Calverley juniors enjoy fine season

Known for its welcoming ethos, Calverley Golf Club, near Leeds, has enjoyed a great summer with its juniors. Junior Organiser Dan Atkins and the PGA Pro Jeff Whittam are tasked with guiding the boys and girls through their academy system (often more than 30 kids present here) to become regular club team players. Their winning of the Bradford Union Development League is proof of their progress and has allowed Dan to tick-off a key part of his three-year plan. Out of 24 games Calverley won 15.

Dan Atkins said: “All the members of the team played very well home and away. They are Jamie, Archie, Matty, Kiernan and George. Winning the league was the icing on the cake this year; I am super proud of all the players.”

Calverley uses the Golf Foundation’s Junior Golf Passport for new players and under Dan’s leadership and Jeff’s coaching expertise the academy is going very well.
