RYDER CUP PLAYERS INSPIRE NEXT GENERATION
The Golf Foundation congratulates the Ryder Cup Europe team on a superb performance in Paris to regain the trophy. Thanks to Team USA and wonderful to see sportsmanship and respect between players on both sides. As for the Europeans, huge respect to the dignified skipper Thomas Bjorn and also Sergio Garcia who became the leading points scorer in Ryder Cup history. Like a number of the players on view he has supported the Golf Foundation, while his and his teammates’ quality of play and their joy and fun in competing will inspire many young people watching.
The Golf Foundation is a charity using the power and format of the Ryder Cup to encourage more young people via our ‘GolfSixes League’, which follows the European Tour model. #teamgolf is proving hugely popular with boys and girls and their parents as they work with PGA pros across 125 golf clubs in 25 team leagues, imitating their heroes from the Ryder and Solheim Cups (GolfSixes League is a joint Foundation/England Golf initiative, supported by Sport England).
The Foundation is fortunate to list The Ryder Cup as one of its core supporters.
PERFECT TEAM… AND A SUPER-8
The Golf Foundation is a charity that ensures that all its junior golf programmes are underpinned by the teaching of life skills, or ‘Skills for Life’, to the boys and girls it introduces to the sport.
Did you know that eight of the Ryder Cup Europe team have supported the Golf Foundation at major golf events to help inspire more young people? Surely that generosity and spirit from these players will have been part of their psyche as they delivered an incredibly unified, mutually supportive and highly focused team performance.
The eight players who have helped the Golf Foundation are: Rory McIlroy, Paul Casey, Justin Rose, Ian Poulter, Thorbjorn Olesen, Sergio Garcia, Tyrrell Hatton and Henrik Stenson. Thanks again guys!
