Clubs

Under the banner of HSBC Golf Roots we have designed a range of programmes to encourage young people to enjoy learning the game at a junior-friendly golf facility.

We support clubs to undertake outreach work and then welcome new participants to their venue.  Approved HSBC Golf Roots Centres are eligible to apply for grant-aid and the Foundation's team of Regional Development Officers is available to provide advice on how to link with school and community groups. 

Once at the club, our national structured learning programme for children, the Junior Golf Passport, is a great way for children to learn the game under the expert supervision of a PGA Professional.  The Passport is also popular with parents and is helping to attract more families along to golf clubs. 

The Golf Foundation is working with its national partners to ensure that young people are welcomed and valued in the golf club environment. An innovative example of creating/maintaining interest is the 'Box of Tricks': a pilot resource featuring 40-plus winning idea cards to boost junior sections.  Each featured suggestion in the Box has helped inspire young people and families and can be shared from club to club. 

The Golf Foundation believes a strong junior section has many benefits for golf clubs. We want to help facilities to address barriers to participation and improve access for young players. One simple way clubs can improve young golfers is to allow them to play in club competitions and we expect all the clubs we work with to provide these opportunities.
