Goodwood Golf Day 2022
The Golf Foundation Goodwood Sixes was held on Thursday 1st September.
Our unique formula delivered a successful day once again and the decision to bring the date forward a month for better weather paid off. We welcomed 18 teams to take part in our unique Golf Sixes format across the day, with some fun beat the pro challenges mixed in to the regular golf.
Out of the 18 teams, there were five new teams and the remainder were returning teams from previous years, although team members varied in terms of new and returning.
The day was a huge success, with over £16,000 raised for the Foundation between the golf and an auction in the evening.
“One of the stars of the day was the Goodwood Estate and its team which made all the visiting players and our charity feel so welcome," said Head of Fundraising for the Golf Foundation Vanessa Bell. "The day had a really intriguing mix of history and innovation which was much commented on by the teams, and which reflected a lot of the great attributes of our sport.
“We love the challenge, approach, engagement and joy of seeing a child picking up a club for the first time in their school or local community, all the way through to stepping out onto the course on a GolfSixes League day wearing their team shirt. And it’s the process of watching them learn and grow along the way, not just in their golf ability, but in their confidence and life skills too, that makes our work so rewarding as a charity.”
“First and foremost we are a charity and whilst we are so fortunate to be supported by our core funders such as The R&A, it is important for us to diversify and build on our income streams. We therefore rely on the generosity of individuals, clubs, organisations and companies and, the support of our own fundraising activities to help raise the funds we require. This annual golf day is a fabulous way to raise funds while having fun."
